Obtain Certificate of Good Conduct

The following are the prerequisites for applications for certificates of good conduct:

KENYAN CITIZENS (Within the country)

Adults of or above 18 years

(a) Must present him/her self with original second-generation national identification card and a clear photocopy (Kenyan passports are not accepted).

(b) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 and obtain the official receipt from the cashier at CID Headquarters incase of Nairobi residents or at Divisional CID offices in other geographical areas within Kenya (Refer Appendix 49 of FSO).

(c) Must allow his fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form (C24 or P20).

(d) The application consisting of original payment receipt, clear copy of ID.card and fingerprints must be forwarded officially with a covering letter from Divisional CID office to CID Headquarters through post or runner.

All other persons or a child below 18 years

(a) Must present him/her self with original birth certificate and a clear certified photocopy

(b) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 and obtain the official receipt from the cashier at CID Headquarters incase of Nairobi residents or at Divisional CID offices in other geographical areas within Kenya (Refer Appendix 49 of FSO).

(c) Must allow his fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form (C24 or P20).

(d) The application consisting of original payment receipt, clear copy of ID.card and fingerprints must be forwarded officially with a covering letter from Divisional CID office to CID Headquarters through post or runner

 

KENYAN CITIZENS (FOREIGN COUNTRIES)

Adults of or above 18 years

(a) Must present him/her self with original second-generation national identification card and a clear photocopy (Kenyan passports not accepted).

(b) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 or its equivalent and obtain the official receipt from our nearest foreign mission or submit the cheque payable to Director of Criminal Investigation at Nairobi Kenya.

(c) Must allow his/her fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form at the nearest Police Station in the country of stay.

(d) If not registered and issued with a Kenyan ID.card as per Cap. 107 Laws of Kenya, must prove that he/she attained the age of 18 years while out side the country and is yet to return. A letter from our foreign mission, certified copy of birth certificate and passport are relevant in this case.

(e) The application consisting of original payment receipt/cheque, clear copy of ID.card and fingerprints must be forwarded officially with a covering letter to CID Headquarters – Nairobi through post or runner

All other persons or a child below 18 years

(a) Must present him/her self with certified original and copies of birth certificate and or Kenyan passport.

(b) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 or its equivalent and obtain the official receipt from our nearest foreign mission or submit the cheque payable to Director of Criminal Investigation at Nairobi Kenya.

(c) Must allow his/her fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form at the nearest Police Station in the country of stay.

 

FOREIGN CITIZEN (NON REFUGEE OR ALIEN) ALL AGES

a. Must present him/her self with a certified copy of his country’s passport with documentary prove that he/she ever resided in Kenya for 3 months or more

b. Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 or its equivalent and obtain the official receipt from our nearest foreign mission or submit the cheque payable to Director of Criminal Investigation at Nairobi Kenya.

c. Must allow his/her fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form at the nearest Police Station in the present country of residence.

d. The application consisting of original payment receipt or cheque, certified copy of passport , document of prove of resident in Kenya and fingerprints must be forwarded officially with a covering letter from the official fingerprinting agency or Kenyan mission to CID Headquarters Nairobi – Kenya through post or runner.

FOREIGN CITIZEN (ALIEN IN KENYA) ALL AGES

(a) Must present him/her self with original and copy of his country’s passport with documentary prove that he/she has been resident in Kenya for 3 months or more. Document from his/her employer or training institution incase of expatriate or student respectively is relevant.

(b) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 and obtain the official receipt from the cashier at CID Headquarters incase of Nairobi residents or at Divisional CID offices in other geographical areas within Kenya (Refer Appendix 49 of FSO).

(c) Must allow his fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form (C24 or P20) at the CID Headquarters Nairobi (for all Nairobi residents) or Divisional CID offices in other districts.

(d) The application consisting of original payment receipt, copies of passport/other documents and fingerprints must be forwarded officially with a covering letter from Divisional CID office to CID Headquarters through post or runner.

(e) Alien ID.cards must be verified by the issuing authority (Immigration Department) before processing of the application is allowed.

FOREIGN CITIZEN (REFUGEE IN KENYA) ALL AGES

(f) Must present him/her self with original and copy of UNHCR valid mandate letters. UNHCR movement passes or recommendations from other government or non-governmental organizations are not accepted. Confirmation of registration as a refugee is done by the UNHCR office in Nairobi.

(g) Must pay Kshs.1, 000.00 and obtain the official receipt from the cashier at CID Headquarters along Kiambu Road in Nairobi.

(h) Must allow his fingerprints and palm prints to be recorded on a prescribed form (C24 or P20) at the CID Headquarters Nairobi only.

Certificate of good conduct will be ready for collection in fourteen (14) working days from the date of application unless otherwise stated.


NOTE:

• That the applicant’s fingerprints must be recorded on a prescribed form by an authorized person who must enter all the clerical details.
• That the original cash or cheque payment receipt must be attached to the applicant’s fingerprints.
• That residents of Nairobi must apply for certificates at CID Headquarters along Kiambu road. Applicants in other areas must apply at Divisional CID offices.

    I applied for a certificate of good conduct online and went ahead to put my finger prints at Huduma Centre Kisumu.
    Now, it has been over six months sinc e then. I haven’t got. Every time I go to check for it am told it is not ready…What is the problem and how can I get it coz I want to use it.

  4. Hi…i applied for my good conduct certificate last week on Wednesday 30th Aug …..i recorded my fingerprints at huduma centre , when should I be expecting it to be ready?…because am expected to produce it for job employment.

  6. I applied for my good conduct certificate 3 weeks ago atGPO huduma center I was told after 2weeks I check my email but I av been checking but nothing is there .can it be that I made a miskake or what might be the problem?

    • hello fam,sometimes our emails hide some notifications like mine had done so about the certificate of good conduct.Just in case you haven’t received any response after 14 days,Open your email and type “Certificate of good conduct” on the search icon and see whether the message might have been marked it as a scam.

    • hey my frend its not through an sms the way you take it,,,, its through email go and check your emails the certicate might have even already generated. thank me later

  11. I had already applied for my good conduct and presented myself to the C.I D headquarter along kiambu road but it is now three weeks I have not received the SMS for I to download what could be the problem

  14. I applied for mine at the CID Kiambu Road and its almost a month now and its still ‘queued.’ It is needed urgently at my new place of work. What might be the problem?

    • hello Diana,sometimes the email hides the notification like mine had done so.Open your email and type “Certificate of good conduct” and see whether the message ‘MIGHT’ have been marked as a scam.
