Lets face it, there’s no such thing as ‘enough money’. Money in whatever proportion(s) will never be sufficient thus there’s always the need to look for more.

From the filthy rich billionaires to the middle class citizens to the dirt poor paupers, money plays a very vital role in their survival and ultimately creates a subsequent rift that divides them into social classes.

Therefore in the quest survival, whereby money is limited, vis-a-vis a situation requiring a much larger amount, there is usually the option of taking loans.

Loans in other words are ‘lifesavers’ during financial difficulties. it entails borrowing a certain amount of money payable through a defined duration at a set interest rate.

Despite its advantages, there is also a downside to taking loans. This involves the inability to repay leading to a term referred to as a loan default.

A loan default rating should spell danger to any loanee. For example a loan defaulter here in Kenya risks being blacklisted by the CRB (Credit Reference Bureau) which means you will not be able to access ANY loan from whatever formal source for a period not exceeding 5 years.

To avoid such a scenario, its usually advisable to check your credit status by simply doing the following;

There are currently 3 licensed credit reference bureaus where you can obtain your credit report:

NOTE:

You get listed by CRB after you default a loan by at least 90 days. The law requires CRB to retain the default information for a period of 5 years from when the loan was cleared.

I later fell sick and therefore I couldn’t make to pay back the loan ..this has delayed my helb disbursement due to the CRB shortlisting suspicions… Please have paid the loan though am still in the hospital so am requesting for clear records to access any kind of loan ..

  2. I paid and settled the loans I got from Getbucks and express financial services .Then I applied for a credit card with Barclays Bank and I was told that I was listed on CRB. After an inquiry for Getbucks,I was told that I didn’t pay for June 2017 instalment in the actual fact it went through DDCC in Barclays Bank and for xpress i defaulted for two months but i settled the entire loan last month 02/08/17.l would like to be removed from the CRB list because I have paid them with all their interests.

  3. IM SERIOUSLY FERIOUS AND I NEED URGENT HELP.
    I USED TO OPERATE WITH SOFT LOANS FROM EQUITY;MSHWARI AND KCB MPESA.

  8. crb you are unfair, if one paid his loan and cant access money anywhere just because of you holding his name in your system, very bad. you should consult before blacklisting, very bad, what do you gain by making somebody not have access to finance when he already paid???

  9. you must be jokers as crb to allow people like pesapata who charge ksh 3 daily for every ksh 100 interest to bring people to you for blacklisting.such guys shouldn’t even be allowed to offer credit services in kenya. That interest is against the central bank guidelines.

  10. you real mistreat of paying sh 2200 for shortlisted partners. some of us are from poor backgrounds. please consider us and allow us to continue requesting for loans.

  11. This crb really mistreats people. How do you trust an institution that someone owes them without consulting the other party.I think you should demand details from the person you are blacklisting.some have cleared their debts centuries ago but no updates. You are treating us unfairly it’s good to listen to both parties.

    • Before being blacklisted you were given several warning messages. The banking & financial sector are just protecting themselves from loan defaulters.

    • To know your listing status, kindly dial *433# and follow the prompts. You will be given a free credit report every year. Registration is Ksh 100
