Yet another devastating missing person vibe ends badly. Lydia Wambui (above) a mother of two went missing a few weeks ago. She was last seen boarding into a car on her way to work, that was it. Then came this update by her friends, former colleagues, and relatives;
“To All Friends of Lydia Wambui Ngungu aka Wambui Henry . This is to inform you that Lydia has gone missing from the office and home.
Efforts to trace her through her phone have been fruitless. She was last seen on Wednesday morning at around 7 am at her stage in Githurai on her way to work. She was wearing a pink suit. Anybody who knows her whereabouts to kindly report to the nearest police station or the firm of Rachier and Amollo Advocates” Then the agonizing calls from her, she called her family saying she had been abducted.
According to her friends, the kidnappers were said to have posed as good Samaritans during the matatu strike, abducted her together with another lady who was later to be identified as a city council worker.
The kidnappers started demanding for ransom, the family reported the matter to the police but they didn’t get help. Then soon the kidnappers started withdrawing cash from her account even using her ATM card every day past midnight.
Sadly Lydia a practicing lawyer together with the city council lady were found days later, strangled and their bodies dumped along Thika road.
Her family trying to come to terms with her death and prepare her for her final journey that’s set for Tuesday, 11th December 2012 at Gatanga,you cant help but wonder how her 7yr old and 3year old kids are doing,their mum taken away so soon.
During the matatu strike we relied on the good will of good Samaritans, does this mean we cannot trust anyone?
